Sydney – Strangers doesn’t mean Strange

I’ve been working on the project Strangers doesn’t mean Strange for months now. It’s just past half way (completed Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne & Brisbane). I’m hoping to put the final portraits into a book with words and stories (or even poetry) relating back to the reasons why I started it. More info on that, the details and all that other fun stuff will come once I finish shooting all of the pictures. If you have any ideas, suggestions or things you’d like to see in a finished copy (or if you want to collaborate on the project) hit me up in the comments or flick me an email. As for now, here are some of the wonderful people I met in Sydney.

Festa al Colle

Earlier this year, Dale and I were invited out to Festa al Colle (held in the rural town of Il Colle, near Monti in Chianti, in Italy) by the incredibly talented photographer, Lelia Scarfiotti. The festival happens only twice a year and combines all of the pleasures in life – delicious food, wine, music, friends and a great atmosphere! We had all sorts of dramas getting to the festival, (normally around 40 minutes by car) we caught a bus to the wrong town, over an hour away – late of a Friday afternoon. Any chance of public transport, taxi or hire car was completely out of the question. Half a day later (and due to the generosity of an amazing local landscape photographer, who happened to speak english) we managed to make it to the festival and had the absolutely time of our lives! On to the photos… Enjoy!

Janette & Aaron {Canberra wedding photography – Sculpture gardens}

Janette & Aaron had an intimate ceremony with their close friends in the morning, but mainly wanted to go and take some pictures in the afternoon. So we picked a few locations, stumbled across some abandoned couches, enjoyed a picnic and made some pictures! These guys were so much fun and such a pleasure to photograph as I’m sure you’ll see. Come share a smile with us :)

John {portrait photography}

John.

He is a lovely man from New Zealand who was visiting Australia with his wife, Del. I met John on the street in Adelaide while photographing portraits for a personal project I’m working on. His gentle eyes have seen more life than I can even imagine. More portraits to come…
