Paul & Romilda | Melbourne Wedding Photographer

Just like in your fridge at home – there is a little man that turns the light on in my head. So when Paul & Romilda said to me “just do what you do” the little man was jumping up and down, running around with a big smile on his face and ready to kick some wedding photographs butts! But first, we need to go back to how it started. The first time I spoke with Paul on the phone many months ago. I was sitting there at my computer booking flights to go overseas and the conversation went a little something like this…

Paul – “I really love your work Jeremy, Are you available on this day…”

Me – “Umm… Ahh… Umm… I’m kinda in the middle of booking flights to the USA during that weekend.”

Paul – “Oh”

Me – “Well, I can probably still move my flights. I haven’t booked them yet!” (I was less than a minute away from clicking the book flights now button)

The rest as they say, is history. Well, not really. More likely recently. But still.

Coming from both Italian families there was plenty of delicious Italian food & drinks and so many great moments, especially the kids! Being around all of this delicious Italian goodness made me a bit sad, wishing I was back in Italy. But then I realised how awesome it was to be photographing an Italian wedding right here in Melbourne, Australia! Here are my favourites from the day. Thank you again guys for such an awesome day, enjoy the pictures!

Festa al Colle

Earlier this year, Dale and I were invited out to Festa al Colle (held in the rural town of Il Colle, near Monti in Chianti, in Italy) by the incredibly talented photographer, Lelia Scarfiotti. The festival happens only twice a year and combines all of the pleasures in life – delicious food, wine, music, friends and a great atmosphere! We had all sorts of dramas getting to the festival, (normally around 40 minutes by car) we caught a bus to the wrong town, over an hour away – late of a Friday afternoon. Any chance of public transport, taxi or hire car was completely out of the question. Half a day later (and due to the generosity of an amazing local landscape photographer, who happened to speak english) we managed to make it to the festival and had the absolutely time of our lives! On to the photos… Enjoy!

Radda in Chianti {Street Photography in Italy}

Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to be photographing a beautiful wedding in Tuscany, Italy. One of my best mates and fellow photographer Dale also came over and we managed to spend most of our time photographing in the streets (and enjoying the incredible food & wine of the region!) We met some really interesting characters and captured some of my favourite images. Here are a few shots from a small town called Radda in Chianti. We ended up in the town by complete accident as we were trying to make our way to a smaller village for a festival (more on that story in another post!) without any method of transport to leave the village, we made the most of our time here… Enjoy!

walking the streets

Vespas zooming past thousand year old buildings, the distant sound of police sirens and foreign accents. My mind starts to slow down and my body starts to feel things that are going on around me. I’m smelling new smells, hearing new sounds and noticing things that people seem to be walking straight past. There is a river of people passing by, flowing to places like the Colosseum and the Vatican, and it seems all I want to do is stand still and experience everything that is happening around me. What is wrong with me? Why aren’t I feeling the overwhelming desire to visit these sites this very instant. Am I broken? Have I missed the point? Or am I starting to experience the world in a different way? I smile to myself and press the shutter.
