You can leave your hat on!

… but maybe not your jacket! I love this moment very late in the evening at Sally & Jeremy’s reception. The dance floor was getting pretty dang hot, so it made sense to remove some clothing!

The streets of Fitzroy [on film]

Since moving to Melbourne earlier this year, I set up office in Fitzroy just off Brunswick st. The plan was to immerse myself in the Melbourne culture and try and work out what it is about this place that is so appealing! Most days I pop out with a camera in hand and shoot a few frames on the street. Here are a bunch shot on tri-x 400. I love it here.

Sydney – Strangers doesn’t mean Strange

I’ve been working on the project Strangers doesn’t mean Strange for months now. It’s just past half way (completed Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne & Brisbane). I’m hoping to put the final portraits into a book with words and stories (or even poetry) relating back to the reasons why I started it. More info on that, the details and all that other fun stuff will come once I finish shooting all of the pictures. If you have any ideas, suggestions or things you’d like to see in a finished copy (or if you want to collaborate on the project) hit me up in the comments or flick me an email. As for now, here are some of the wonderful people I met in Sydney.

Chicago | On the street

Chicago was the first stop on our road trip across the USA (north to south). Being the 3rd largest city in the US I was definitely excited by the thoughts of shooting on the street here. The interesting (and slightly strange) thing was it was actually really difficult to photograph in the street as it felt nearly everyone noticed that I had a camera and was taking pictures (normally this isn’t really the case). People would actually duck and weave around the camera and someone even yelled abuse at me! We only saw another photographer shooting pictures on the street over 4 days and for a city of nearly 3 million people, I was expecting much more than that. Having said that we did meet so many friendly locals and  I definitely want to go back with more time and really explore the amazing light here. I captured a lot of audio from around the city as well and will put that, together with some more pictures, in a video for the whole Chicago experience over the coming months. For now, enjoy some pictures!
