Glowing Rectangles

For the most part of my life I’ve been staring at some form of glowing rectangle and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone here. I’d go so far as suggesting that the majority of people reading this post would have had a similar experience in their own lives. As a result it’s almost expected that we’re staring at a glowing rectangle for the majority of our waking hours.

I believe this constant need to be connected is affecting my life in a negative way and I’m very interested in exploring the topic on a boarder scale. From my experience and observation these fascinating devices seem to create a world of isolation, disconnection with our surroundings, and a lack being present (all things leading away from a life of happiness…) I’d love to hear your thoughts on how glowing rectangles affect your life (both positively & negatively) hit up the comment section below.

This is part of a long term project and the pictures below are from Melbourne and Singapore.

Jo & Anthony

When you combine two actors and their amazing group of friends and family you get a seriously dynamic wedding. I had one of those “this is why I photograph weddings” moments about an hour into the wedding and then about another 8 times throughout the day! From the emotions, the people, putting the flowers together themselves, Jo’s dress, to the beautiful location, lovely light, giant bubbles, suitcase wedding cake and entering the reception to “lets get ready to rumbleeeeee” Jo & Anthony’s wedding was incredible to be a part of. Congrats on making your wedding such an amazing day and perfect reflection of your personalities. You guys made it truly yours and this is what made it so awesome. You guys rock!
Oh and one more thing, I know you’re probably wondering what the significance of the guys holding the keys and the embarrassed look on Anthony’s face is… Well, I would love to tell you that story but I think I might just leave it to your imagination :)

Hitting the streets singapore style

What I really love about traveling is walking around with my camera, documenting all the quirky things, quiet moments and things that I find just plain odd. I remember when I was a little kid I heard the phrase “you have two ears, two eyes and one mouth – use them in that ratio”. It wasn’t said with reference to me, but it always stuck in my mind and I believe that has helped shape the way that I shoot.

So here are more images from a recent trip to Singapore. The most interesting places where Little India, the Arab Quarter & Chinatown. Again, they’re all shot on Kodak Tri-x with the beautiful Zeiss Ikon and Zeiss 35mm f/2. I’m in love with this camera! Enjoy :)

A Portrait of Singapore

Earlier this year I headed over to Singapore for a week and shot 8 rolls of film. It was the first time for me to travel overseas and shoot ONLY film. Having just got the shots back today from the lab, I’m very happy with the results! Here is a taste of this intriguing place. For those interested it was all shot on my Zeiss Ikon with the 35 f/2. They are some of my favourite shots ever… what do you think? Can you dig it? Can’t wait to share the rest of the series with y’all!
