FAQs {frequently asked questions}

Do we get the images on disc?
Yes, of course. All of the wedding packages include the high-resolution images.

Can we print the images?
Certainly, feel free to make some for your Mum, Uncle Bob or just to put around the house.

Do we get every photo you take on the day?
I may take thousands of pictures on the day and it can be overwhelming for you to have to deal with all of them. I maintain the highest quality and consistency from start to finish, while making sure to preserve the entire story of your day. Don’t worry, there will be more pictures than you know what to do with!

How many images do we receive?
You can expect around 50 images per hour of coverage.

How long does it take to turn around the photos?
The online gallery is up within 3-4 weeks and is online as soon as I finish editing your photos. Within the following week you’ll receive the disc (depending on geographical location of course)

Do you travel?
Certainly. I’m regularly traveling all over Australia to shoot. I have even been to Tuscany, Italy to photograph an amazing Australian wedding there.

Can you print the images for us?
Definitely, in fact I encourage it. I use a fine art print marker and the highest quality papers available today.

Do you photograph the “family photos” at a wedding?
Yes, the best way to do it is to have a list of immediate family members printed out. Then straight after the ceremony we’ll take some quick photos of family. This usually takes about 10-20 minutes and is dependant on the families.

What does wedding photojournalism mean, why is it different to wedding photography?
A wedding photojournalist records the events as they happen. They don’t interfere, construct or modify the proceedings to create pictures. Thus creating a truthful (and still beautiful) record of the event in an unobtrusive way without setting up or directing things all day.

What kind of shots don’t you do?
I’m not big on the posed portraits, standing in front of monuments that have no meaning to you or the day, ring shots, shoes in a window etc. They don’t really add any story or feelings to the photos and are generally avoided.

A lot of your work is in black and white, do you shoot colour as well?
The majority of my images are captured in colour with an intention to keep as colour or convert to black and white. The couple receive the majority of the images taken in colour, with my hand crafted black and white images making up around 100 as the final pieces.  These are the special, stand out shots that bring a tear to nanna’s eye.

Why black and white?
“Photograph a man in colour and you show the colour of his shirt. Photograph a man in black and white and you show the colour of his soul. “ – Ted Grant.

There isn’t many “directed” portraits of brides and grooms on your website, do you photograph location photos with the bridal party?
I do a short session with the bridal party if requested, but feel the most important photographs are of the couple and all of the happenings of the day. I don’t do 3 hour long location sessions with the bridal party. An hour or less is best preferably with just the bride + groom.

Do you have insurance?
Yes, both equipment and liability insurance.

Is photography your full time job?
It certainly is. My income comes entirely from photography and has since the start of 2008.

Are you a member of the AIPP?
I’m a full accredited member of the AIPP and the WPJA.

What camera equipment do you use?
Canon 5d Mark IIs with all of the highest quality lenses you can buy. 24L, 35L, 50L, 85L, 24-70L, 70-200L.

Do you photograph things other than weddings?
Of course, I document all kinds of happenings in life and even shoot commercial work occasionally. Anything involving people and telling a story really. Check out the “stories” section of the website.  If you like the style of my work and think it might suit what you’re after, just get in contact.

Do you have backup equipment?
I bring at least 2 cameras to every wedding and many lenses, spare batteries and memory cards to ensure I can keep shooting pictures all day.

If you had everything you possibly could in the world, what would you photograph?
Exactly what I’m doing now – weddings, people & life.

If you could rock out on stage with any band, who would it be?
Led Zeppelin, easily. Bring half the band back to life and that would be a dream come true…

You look young, have you photographed many weddings?
Yes, I am young. I’m only 24 and I’ve photographed over 100 weddings. I’m dedicated, passionate and deteremined. I eat weddings for breakfast, lunch and dinner (on saturdays usually).
