A lovely gesture {and a shoe lace}

Last weekend I was up in Brisbane for a few days working on a couple of projects. While walking back from Fortitude Valley I noticed this guy standing just off the sidewalk and holding something behind his back. I wasn’t entirely sure what it was, but it looked like a bunch of flowers so I walked over and started having a chat. At first I was just hoping to photograph him for my Australia wide portrait project (more on this very soon), but then we got chatting and it became even more interesting. It turns out Matt was waiting for his girlfriend (who would be walking up the street any minute) and had just hand picked some flowers for her. Not having anything to tie the bunch together he broke off his own shoe lace and tied the beautifully arranged flowers together… I thought to myself, how beautiful. It’s times like these when you realise there really are some wonderful people in the world.

Chelsey - This is such a great little series of photos along with an amazing story.
Its like something from a movie. Made me smile after a downer of a day.

Your photography is so touching and inspiring!
